RemoteReporting opened for business on January 1,
2001, with the goal of bringing usable, inexpensive, value-added
Internet services to the international trading community. We
believe that the international trade community is under-utilizing the
vast resources of the Internet. Efficiency, customer service,
commercial management, and technical management are suffering as a
result. We sincerely believe that our services will make
management of International Trade easier by making secure
information available around the clock, for inter-organization
communication as well as intra-organization communication.
For everything we do, we ask the following
questions:
- Is it practical, given the goal? Are we making something
complicated and expensive when it could be simple and inexpensive?
- Is it usable, easy to
understand? The Internet should conform
to the user, not the user to the Internet.
- Can we offer more service for a lower
price? Right now, the
Internet is extremely inefficient. Development companies are
bloated with programmers charging $1,000+ per day to develop
simple solutions. Change happens so rapidly that development
costs are self-perpetuating. This makes custom solutions out
of reach for most users. In everything we do, we strive to
keep costs down while adding value and adding service.
- Does the project add value, or is it just
a gimmick? At
RemoteReporting, we concentrate on making mission-critical data
easily accessible. Fancy graphics, dancing bears, pop-ups,
tickers, and confusing web-pages detract from our
product.
- Speed. No one wants to wait 30
seconds for a web-page to download. We keep our pages small
and our servers lightly loaded to make web-requests process
quickly.
- K.I.S.S. Keep it simple,
stupid. International Trade is not rocket science. It
is a set of simple transactions that only become complicated when
they are neglected or mismanaged. A web-based data provider
should make things simpler for the customer, not complicate them.
- K.I.S.S., part 2. The most
important thing about our service is that it is always available,
always accurate, always secure. We will never offer a
product that is so complex we cannot manage it responsibly.
